We are excited to announce that our season opener on Sunday 10th April 2016 against Aberdeen Roughnecks will be sponsored by…… Punch-Drunk Comedy!
The team host live stand up comedy events with a huge focus on re-igniting the concept of community; using laughter to connect us all.
Over the last few years they have hosted international comedians and raised the bar for stand up comedy in the region.. but why stop there?
Their goal is now to create a community movement and to make the events bigger than ever – more laughter, more energy and to put our communities on the map as a national platform for comedy.
To help achieve their goals, the Punch-Drunk team set aside 50 free tickets to the small businesses in the community and allocate some of their ticket sales revenue to charities.
Most recently their events have been a driving force behind Kian Musgrove’s fight to fly to the US for life-saving cancer treatment (which to date has now surpassed over £580’000!) through the “100 heroes” campaign where 100 individuals are attempting to generate £1000 each in fundraising to help Kian.
So, whilst Punch-Drunk have generously offered to sponsor the Lightnings first game day of the season, we are going to flip this one on its head and use the opportunity to bring attention to the Punch-Drunk movement!
Check our their events, share their posts, leave them a review and help them spread the word – be part of something very special.
One worthy player will win two tickets to an upcoming Punch-Drunk event at our opening home game against Aberdeen Roughnecks. Kick off is 14:30 on Sunday 10th April 2016, at Ashington Rugby Club and the game is FREE, so come down to show your support!
